KOLKATA/HOWRAH: There were two incidents of fire in Kolkata and Howrah on Saturday morning. The first one broke out at a sweet shop in Bhowanipore while the second caused more damage at Ambika Jute Mills in Belur, destroying bales of jute and finished products worth Rs 10-12 lakh. However, nobody was seriously injured in either incident.
The fire at Prakash Sweets on Justice Dwarkanath Road was reported around 6am.
Four fire tenders took nearly an hour and a half to bring the blaze under control.
The fire in the 10,000 square feet godown of Ambika Jute Mill started around 10.30am when the morning shift was on. Six fire tenders worked for three hours to bring it under control.
