NEW DELHI: Three shooters have been arrested for gunning down a rival of jailed gangster Rohit Chaudhary in full public view in south Delhi’s Saket last Monday.
TOI was first to report on Tuesday that Prince had been murdered because of his rivalry with another gangster from Aya Nagar. The police have confirmed that Chaudhary is based in Aya Nagar.
Prince, who had multiple criminal cases registered against him, was declared a history-sheeter in the Malviya Nagar police station area.
Last year, he had openly abused and threatened Chaudhary and his gang members during a meeting.
“Chaudhary’s men had earlier made failed attempts as Prince had managed to escape before shooters could corner him,” said Ram Gopal Naik, DCP, crime branch. However, last Monday, they found out about his movements and trailed him to and from court before showering him with bullets.
“A team led by ACP Sandeep Lamba and inspector Sunil Kumar of the crime branch had received a tip-off about the identity of the shooters in the Saket murder case after which traps were laid at several places and they were caught,” Naik said.
According to the DCP, the arrested shooters have been identified as Badal, Satender and Ashfaq, all residents of different JJ clusters in south Delhi. Four mobiles phones have also been seized.

Badal, a permanent resident of Samalkha in Panipat, had shifted to Delhi 25 years ago and completed his graduation through correspondence. Last November, during his wedding, he was attacked by his rivals. He had sustained gunshot injuries but recuperated. Satender, from Mathura, has 17 cases of robbery, snatching and vehicle theft lodged against him, while Ashfaq also has a criminal record.
The trio, hired specifically for this murder, had executed the plan at the Pushp Vihar traffic signal around 3pm on Monday afternoon. Prince was walking towards a mall with friends when the shooters appeared on a bike, pulled up next to him and fired at him from close range. Prince was taken to a nearby hospital in an auto where he died during treatment.
