Howrah: Two arrested for extortion

HOWRAH: Two extortionists, Rajesh Das (36) and Md Sabbir Qureshi (22), who were planning to extort money from a promoter's house, were arrested from Belur early on Monday.
Cops also seized a one-shotter from the duo. An investigation has started. The Howrah Police's detective department conducted a raid around 3am on Monday at a hideout at Belur after getting a tip off that the duo were about to strike a promoter's house.
Caught unaware, the duo tried to escape but the police chased and caught them. Police said the duo had been demanding Rs 50 lakh from the promoter for some time but he had been refusing them.
