Lucknow: Drunk cop opens fire, injures three

A police sub-inspector was arrested on Tuesday night for firing with his service revolver from the roof of his house in Aziznagar area of Madiaon and leaving three neighbours injured.

LUCKNOW: A police sub-inspector was arrested on Tuesday night for firing with his service revolver from the roof of his house in Aziznagar area of Madiaon and leaving three neighbours injured.
The police control room received a call around 11.30pm about gunshots being heard from a residence in Aziznagar. A team that reached the spot found sub-inspector Amit Kumar in an inebriated state with his firearm.
Those wounded have been identified as Ajay Kumar Yadav, Jyoti Singh and Shabbir. All of them suffered pellet injuries, police said.
Sources said Kumar was posted in Pratapgarh and had recnetly come home on leave.
Superintendent of police (trans-Gomti) Amit Kumar said the sub-inspector had been arrested and his service weapon seized. "It is not yet clear why he opened fire from the roof of his house. However, a case under the Arms Act has been registered against him. The injured have been admitted to hospital and a probe is underway," the SP added.
