BIHARSHARIF: Two days after four inmates of the Biharsharif-based
Nalanda Bal Grih escaped, police arrested its superintendent Dhridh Raj Kumar and seven security guards on Tuesday.
The action came following a probe ordered by
Nalanda DM Yogendra Kumar Singh. The security guards and the superintendent were found responsible for the escape of four of the 51 inmates who are involved in several heinous crimes including rape and murder.
Sources said that one of the inmates was involved in the murder of a minor student at Ekangarsarai last year.
He was arrested by the Ekangarsarai police but he had managed to escape from police custody and after more than two months he was again arrested from Telangana.
Confirming the arrests, Nalanda SP Nilesh Kumar said raids are being conducted to arrest the juveniles who have fled the home.
In a surprise raid on May 4, Nalanda DM Yogendra Kumar Singh accompanied by Nalanda SP Nilesh Kumar and juvenile court magistrate Manvendra Mishra had recovered tobacco, mobile phone charger, earthen pipes used for smoking marijuana, match boxes and a diary containing contact numbers from the possession of the home inmates. “The officials had reprimanded the superintendent for his negligent attitude. They had also directed him to get the windows closed with iron plates which he did not adhere to,” said the SP.
Nalanda Bal Grih came to light last September when an inmate of the home, Chhotu Kumar of Gaya, died during treatment at Biharsharif sadar hospital. He was suffering from acute anemia.
