Thane man killed as car falls in pit dug for drainage work

THANE: A man was killed on Wednesday morning after his car fell into an pit dug up for drainage work in Thane city of Maharashtra, an official said.
The victim, Sachin Kakodkar, 35, was driving his car here from Nilkanth Woods area towards Ghodbunder Road when the vehicle accidentally fell into the 10-feet-deep pit dug for laying a drainage pipeline in the Mulla Baug area of Thane.
Rescue officials pulled out the mangled remains of the car and rushed the victim to the hospital where he was declared dead.
Officials are investigating the case further to know if the private contractor had failed to erect necessary barricades or if the driver was speeding.
