If you want to show your BBF - that's best friend forever if you didn't know - how much she, or he, means to you then booking tickets for a special event at Newcastle's newest cinema could do the trick.

Over the Bank Holiday weekend, Everyman Cinema in Grey Street will be screening a preview of new US film Booksmart - which is all about best pals - and it promises to be a full-on besties' celebration, with a free ticket on offer so that customers can treat their own best mates.

Those buying tickets to the so-called Sunday Funday on May 26 will get to watch the movie ahead of its May 31 release date and they can enjoy free cocktails as they do so. And there is an opportunity to win extra drinks and snacks too.

Customers also will be able to have their photographs taken with their best friend at a BFF Polaroid wall and take part in a post-screening quiz for a chance to win a prize worth £100.

The Everyman Cinema

The event, starting at 4pm will be a first opportunity for many to see inside the 78-seat boutique cinema which launched this May in the basement of Earl Grey House.

And audiences are promised an intimate, cosy experience with comfortable sofas and drinks served to their seats.

The night's film, described as a coming-of-age comedy about two high school over-achievers who set out out to pack into one night all the fun they've been missing out on, stars rising talents Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein in a cast which also features Friends actress Lisa Kudrow and Saturday Night Live sketch writer Jason Sudeikis

The screening is the first in a number of special events planned for the venue which is taking a fresh and innovative approach to the traditional cinema concept.

And the Bring Your BBF two-for-one ticket deal ia part and parcel of that, as is an offer to 'Book-Smart for Booksmart' which means one lucky person who happens to book a particular sofa or armchair online will receive free food and drink from the cinema's Spielburger restaurant for the duration of the screening.

But every customer will receive a free raspberry candy fizz cocktail, worth £7.50, which is a mix of prosecco, raspberry liqueur and candy floss.

Notebooks and pens also will be provided so that guests can make notes in preparation for the post-screening quiz which has a £100 Everyman tab prize on offer to the winner.
