NEW DELHI: A 21-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by electrocuting himself in the washroom of his house in East Delhi's Gazipur on Monday evening.
Police said that the victim, identified as Atul Kumar, had allegedly tied a live wire around his wrist. An inquest proceeding under Section 174 of the CrPC has been initiated. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.
The incident was reported on Monday evening, when Kumar, who works as a security guard, did not report for duty. When his friend went to check on him, he found him in the washroom - electrocuted.
The neighbours informed police. Cops found that Kumar had tied a wire around his wrist and then put the wire's other end in the socket. The victim had also used transparent tape around his arm to keep it attached to the socket. After putting in the wire, Kumar allegedly turned the switch on and died of electric shock.
The family members of the victim told cops that Kumar would often complain of working as a security guard despite having a graduate degree.
