A wrecker truck was pulled from the Atlantic Ocean after plunging into the water when the ground beneath it collapsed Tuesday morning in Harpswell, Maine.
The wrecker was in the process of delivering a dock system to the property waterfront, according to a Facebook post by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, when the ground gave way at 9:45 a.m.
Harold Gray of Bowdoin, Maine, owns and operates the wrecker, but nobody was injured in the incident, officials wrote. The truck was later removed by Copp Motors.
“The Department of Environmental Protection was contacted and notified of the incident and did not respond as there was no known discharge of fuel or other hazardous materials,” the sheriff’s office wrote.
This isn’t the only wrecker to have landed in not-so-hot water. On Tuesday, the Times-Picayune wrote about a truck that crashed over the side of a causeway and into Lake Pontchartrain – a brackish estuary near New Orleans.
