Witness in Shahabuddin’s nephew murder case shot dead in Siwan

Shyam Babu alias Javed (40), an associate of incarcerated former RJD MP cum don Shahabuddin and also a witness in his nephew’s murder case, was shot dead near his residence at Ramrajya Mor under Town police station area in Siwan on Wednesday evening.

PATNA: Shyam Babu alias Javed (40), an associate of incarcerated former RJD MP-cum-don Shahabuddin and also a witness in his nephew’s murder case, was shot dead near his residence at Ramrajya Mor under Town police station area in Siwan on Wednesday evening.
Siwan SP Naveen Chandra Jha said that reason behind the murder was still unknown and family members were yet to tell anything to police.

“Javed was also associated with six people who are in jail for alleged involvement in killing of Shahabuddin’s nephew Mohammad Yusuf who was killed on night of February 1,” he said.
Yusuf’s bullet ridden body was recovered from DAV mor under Town police station area in Siwan. Jha said all six persons involved in Yusuf’s killing were still behind bars and police had also submitted chargesheet in the case.
He said that Javed was on foot when he was shot in back of head from a very close range killing him immediately at the spot.
“At least five to six assailants were at spot. Two empty cartridges were recovered from spot,” the SP said. He said that the bullet, which hit Javed from back, had exited from front of his face.
He said that the Javed owns a meat shop below his residence which was hardly few paces from the spot where he got killed.
Jha said that at least eight cases of loot, theft, extortion, scuffle and firearms recovery were lodged against Javed and his name was in the list of persons maintained by police who work for Shahabuddin.
“Town police used to constantly maintain a dossier on Javed,” he added.
