The Ravens are continuing to add linebacker depth as they plan to sign former first-round pick Shane Ray, according to multiple reports.

The deal is expected to be for one year, ESPN reports. The move is pending a physical.

Baltimore will be the second stop in Ray's NFL career. He was selected by the Broncos with the 23rd overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft, but Denver opted to let him walk rather than pick up his fifth-year option.

Ray got off to a strong start with 12 sacks in 30 games during his first two seasons in the league, including eight starts in 2016. But he was held back by a wrist injury, which required three different surgical procedures, and was limited to just 19 games during his last two seasons, where he made only two sacks. He finished his time in Denver with 14 sacks across 49 games.

Ray also considered signing with the Colts, Raiders and Seahawks in free agency.

Ray will bring competition to the outside linebacker position with recent draft picks Tyus Bowser, Tim Williams, Jaylon Ferguson and Matt Judon. If Ray remains healthy he should be able to help fill the void left with the departures of CJ Mosley, Za'Darius Smith and Terrell Suggs.

The Ravens also signed Pernell McPhee earlier this week to a one-year deal.
