PATNA: Patna SSP Garima Malik on Thursday said that several police teams are conducting raids at various locations across the state to nab those involved in the SUV loot of JD(U) leader Tufail Ahmed.
Ahmed, who is Daebhanga district vice-president of JD(U), had came to Patna to meet his friend and another JD(U) leader Rishi Mishra at Boring Road when his SUV was looted by two criminals on gunpoint from his driver Subodh Yadav on Tuesday night at around 10pm.
Yadav had parked the SUV in front of Mishra’s residence when the criminals approached him from both sides of the vehicle and ordered him to come out. As soon as he alighted from the vehicle, one of the armed criminals drove the SUV towards Boring Road roundabout, while another criminal fled towards Pani Tanki on foot.
Several suspects of a gang had been detained for interrogation. “Suspects are being brought to Patna for further interrogation after which further disclosure will be made,” she said.
Meanwhile, another Patna police officer, preferring anonymity said that an inter state gang involved in loot of four-wheelers has been busted. “The gang was active in several districts of Bihar and in other states too,” he said.
Incidentally, police teams were formed for conducting raids to nab the culprits only after a ruling party leader became a victim. Earlier, a Nalanda-based garment trader Vinit Kumar Rastogi’s luxury car was looted on gunpoint from Exhibition Road area under Gandhi Maidan police station on the wee hours of May 5. However, no concrete action was taken at that time.
