Varanasi: Modi's lookalike returns to old tracks
VARANASI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lookalike Abhinanadan Pathak, who started campaigning for Congress candidate Ajay Rai in Varanasi, was seen singing Modi tune on Friday.
A resident of Saharanpur, Pathak had been a centre of attraction for his dressing and speaking like Modi during 2014 Lok Sabha poll campaign. Later, he disassociated himself from BJP.
Extending his support to Rai, he had taken part in his nomination procession.
He had also attended the inaugural function of Congress election office on May 2, and mimicking Modi he said, “Hum vyavastha chalane aur sach bolane mein asafal rahe, isliye Ajay Rai ji ko gaddi de rahe hain” (I failed to run the system and tell the truth, hence I am handing over the seat (Varanasi) to Ajay Rai). He had also filed his nomination from Lucknow as an independent candidate.
But, he returned to the old tracks on Friday, and was seen reciting ‘Modi, Modi’ at Dashashwamedh Ghat. When asked about his change of mind, he said that he had gone away from BJP for a while due to some BJP men.
“Modi ji mein humesha shradha rakhi hai, kuchh BJP ke padadhikariyon ke vyavahar se dukh hua tha. Modi se BJP hai, BJP se Modi nahin. Who phir se PM banana jar aha hai (I always have respect for Modi. But, I was saddened by the behaviour of some office bearers of BJP.)," said Pathak.
