LUCKNOW: Bundles of old documents belonging to Lucknow University's examination department were found dumped behind the varsity's administrative block on Wednesday amid police investigations into the marksheet racket unearthed a month ago.
LU officials have seized the documents and ordered an internal probe to find out whether the papers had any link to the scam.

A security guard was the first to spot the reams of paper behind the administrative block, which houses the exam department and offices of senior officials, including VC, pro-VC, registrar and controller of examination. A scrap dealer who was putting the papers in his sack fled on seeing the guard.
Registrar SK Shukla said he rushed to the spot with the LU police outpost in-charge Abhay Kumar Singh. "We will probe the matter and see if there is any link with the marksheet racket," Shukla said.
TOI managed to take a look at some of the discarded documents. They included service records and attendance registers of employees, list of students awarded PhDs, old fee receipts and migration certificates of students.
It is learnt that the documents were thrown out of a window of the exam department's storeroom on the second floor of the building. The iron mesh of the window had been cut open. Since the storeroom is being revamped, LU officials thought the papers might have been discarded by labourers. But, they have denied, saying all almirahs with documents had been shifted to other rooms under official supervision.
