African music legends to  grace CNN’s African Voice

One of Africa’s musical legends, Angelique Kidjo, is among the guests expected to feature on this week’s edition of Cable News Network’s magazine programme, African Voices.

The 58-year-old Grammy Award winner, who hails from Benin Republic, will be joined on the show by a Ugandan song performer, Sandra Suubi, and Ghana’s Ria Boss, on the programme sponsored by Nigerian telecoms company, Globacom.

Kidjo, song writer and producer, is famous for her diverse musical talents corroborated by her popular songs, including ‘Batonga,’ which she performed in 1992; ‘Agolo,’ 1994; and ‘Wombo Lombo,’ a blockbuster released in 1996.

She is also an actress, who has featured prominently in several movies, including ‘The CEO,’ ‘Mother of George’ and ‘People I Know.’

As a musician, Kidjo bagged a Grammy Award  for Best Contemporary World Music Album in 2008, having earlier received the Mobo Awards in 2002.
