It was the first home post-season match for the Stars, the No. 4 seed.
The deciding point came at third doubles with the Lions' Evan Spadefora and Henry Wehmann prevailing 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 over Southwest Christian's Sasha Gittsovich and Caleb Denney.
Caleb Velgersdyk (6-1, 6-2), Connor Galloway (6-1, 6-3) and Max Schmidt (6-0, 6-0) scored team points at first, third and fourth singles for the Stars.
Providence Academy swept the doubles line-up with Southwest Christian's Jack Hennen and Robby Pettit winning the first set before falling 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
The Section 2A Individual Tournament is May 24 and 28 at Reed Sweatt Family Tennis Center.
Rory Johnson and Quinn Pausche pulled out a 7-5, 6-2 match victory at second doubles in Holy Family Catholic's 6-1 loss to St. Peter in the Section 2A Tournament May 17 at Gustavus Adolphus College.
Fire head coach TJ Garin reported multiple matches saw 7-5 or 6-4 set scores with one position going three sets.
Mound-Westonka, St. Peter, Providence Academy, and Breck School are semifinalists on Monday, May 20 in Section 2A.
Top seeds Orono and Eden Prairie advanced in Section 2AA play on Thursday, May 16.
The Spartans won 7-0 over Chanhassen.
The Eagles, which beat Minnetonka 4-3 in the regular season, advanced to the final four by the same score with a post-season win.

Orono faces Mankato East with Eden Prairie drawing Prior Lake in the Section 2AA semifinals on Tuesday, May 21, at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The finals follow around noon.
