    NPF says it will pull out of BJP-led Manipur government after Lok Sabha polls

    BJP claimed that there is no threat to the government for in the 60 member house; the government has the support of 40 members.

    Former chief minister and NPF leader, TR Zeliang announced this in a tweet today.
    Patna: Naga people’s front (NPF) a partner in BJP-led government in Manipur has decided to pull out of the government.

    Former chief minister and NPF leader, TR Zeliang in a tweet stated, “After an intense deliberation and review meeting with the party functionaries and the NPF MLAs of Manipur State, the NPF party has decided in principle to pull out our 4 NPF MLAs from the BJP led Govt in Manipur headed by N Biren Singh soon after the LS election is completed.”

    BJP, however, claimed that there is no threat to the government for in the 60 member house; the government has 40 member. “ Even if four MLAs leave the government we will will a 36 members," a senior BJP leader said on the condition of anonymity.

    NPF held a meeting to discuss the pull out from the government.

    In assembly polls in 2017, Congress emergrd as the single largest party with 28 MLAs in the assembly election. Later around eight Congress MLAs left the party

    Meghalaya based National People’s Party (NPP) is supporting the BJP-led government.

    Earlier despite bitter relationships between NPF and BJP in Nagaland, Manipur unit of NPF has refused to leave the government.
