Farhan Akhtar tells Bhopal to say no to Sadhvi Pragya, trolls say 2024 ke liye appeal jaldi kar di
Farhan Akhtar appealed to the voters of Bhopal to "choose love not hate", but voting is already over in the constituency.
Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter to appeal to the voters of Bhopal to say no to the Bharatiya Janata Party's Lok Sabha candidate from Bhopal, Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, after she called Nathuram Godse, the assassinator of Mahatma Gandhi a "patriot".
"Dear electorate of Bhopal, it's time for you to save your city from another full-of-gas tragedy. #SayNoToPragya #SayNoToGodse #RememberTheMahatma #ChooseLoveNotHate," he tweeted.
However, there is a catch. Bhopal already went to polls last week, on May 12, the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. In fact, the constituency even recorded a historical high voter turnout of 65.69 per cent.
Farhan was brutally trolled by Twitteratti for his gaffe. "Sir, it's a bit early. Please retweet this in 2024," one user wrote, while another tweeted, "Change your internet connection. Your tweets are taking 10 days to be published."
Bhopal witnessed a contest between the Congress's Digivijaya Singh and the Bharatiya Janata Party's Sadhvi Pragya Thakur.
On the work front, Farhan will be seen next on the big screen in Shonali Bose's The Sky Is Pink, which marks the Bollywood comeback of Priyanka Chopra after three years. The film, which also stars Zaira Wasim, is based on the life of Aisha Chaudhary, who became a motivational speaker after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.
Farhan and Priyanka will be seen as Aisha's parents, Niren Chaudhary and Aditi Chaudhary. The Sky Is Pink is scheduled to open in theatres on October 11 this year.
