Call the Midwife

Call the Midwife has well and truly survived the departure of Nurse Jenny and now plays pretty fast and loose with the longevity of its characters. It's not quite Game of Thrones but if I were in the cast I'd be reading my contract pretty closely. On the upside the willingness to discard familiar faces means the series is constantly making room for new ones, and the addition of Leonie Elliot (Lucille) and Jennifer Kirby (Valerie) has been welcome. Both manage to remain perennially sunny without becoming saccharine, which is kind of what this show is all about.
