All the ‘proper patolas’ and ‘high-rated gabrus’ of Hyderabad who thronged the Gachibowli Stadium to cheer for singing sensation Guru Randhawa were treated to a rocking Saturday night filled with Punjabi spunk. “Aaj mujhe bahut khushi hai ki hum log ek hi jagah pe khade hai. Fark sirf itna hai mein stage pe khada hun taki aap sab mujhe dekh sakhe. Nahi toh mein bhi aap ke saath khada rehta tha,” said the rapper as the crowd errupted in unison.

Minutes later, the electrifying lights kicked in as the singer kicked off the show with his latest hit Slowly Slowly. For the next couple of hours, Guru had the crowd grooving as he churned out one chartbuster after another. From the hugely popular Lahore to his latest hot seller Daru Wargi, Guru crooned had all his hit numbers to ensure the audience weren’t disappointed. Numbers like Patola, Suit Suit, Downtown, Kaun Nachdi, Ban Ja Tu Meri Rani and more gave the audience plenty to hoot and whistle about. The singer also sang a few retro numbers like Gulabi Aankhen, to create a nostalgic mood. In fact, Guru cleverly gave a Hyderabadi spin to his popular songs, changing the word Lahore with Hyderabad in his much loved 2017 single.

The most heartwarming moment of the night was when a fan gifted the singer with white goggles as a token of love. A delighted Guru said, that he’s “going to keep them with him forever as a gift from Hyderabad.” The Punjabi songster kept the crowd involved right through the show as he humourously engaged with them, urging them to join in and even had some pearls of wisdom to offer. “Everyone should have zeal and passion and should follow their dreams to achieve success. In life everything is temporary except your parents. So always take care of your parents. And do things which would make your parents and country proud,” Guru said as he signed off. Touche.
