BENGALURU: A 14-year-old boy, Nikhil, who was battling his life after he got an electric shock, died at Victoria Hospital burns ward on Monday early morning.
The boy had come in contact with a high tension wire near his house at Netaji circle, Mattikere, while fetching cricket ball around 11 am on May 16. The boy was rushed to the hospital immediately and was put on ventilator. His condition only worsened there after.

The boy died around 2 am on Monday morning succumbing to injuries, said Dr KT Ramesh, head of burns ward, Victoria Hospital. He had suffered more than 50 per cent burns.
The incident happened on May 16 when the ball fell on the terrace of Nikhil’s neighbours’ house. As they had gone out and the gate was shut, the boy climbed the terrace of his own house and jumped on to the neighbour’s house to fetch the ball. He picked it up and raised his arm to throw it to his friends but suffered a shock from the overhead wire and collapsed on the terrace.
