An appeal has been launched to help children enjoy fun days out
Children’s charity Quarriers has launched an appeal to ensure that disadvantaged north-east youngsters can enjoy “fun-filled days out” over the summer.
The scheme, now in its sixth year, allows the organisation to treat young people in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.
The children helped by the appeal face a range of challenging circumstances , with some tasked with caring for older relatives.
The funds will be used to organise trips to the seaside, adventures on nature trails and farm parks and activities such as mountain biking, kayaking and crazy golf.
The charity hopes to lift the burden off their young shoulders during the outings, with a target of giving more than 900 children across Scotland an enjoyable day out.
Alice Harper, chief executive of Quarriers, said: “We work hard to ensure the people we support reach their full potential and days out provide the opportunity to build on vital skills, such as communication and team-work as well as playing, exploring and having fun.
“The lasting effect these outings have on youngsters should not be underestimated.”
With donations starting at as little as £15, Quarriers aims to provide “a day to remember”.
