Jamia Millia Islamia offers free UPSC coaching, invites applications

The Residential Coaching Academy (Center for Coaching and Career Planning) of Jamia Millia Islamia is providing free Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) coaching for the 2020 batch, and is inviting applications for the same.
As per its official notice, the last date to submit the application form is June 25, and an entrance test for the same will be conducted on July 7.
Only 150 seats available for free coaching this year
Intakes
Every year, RCA provides free coaching along with the hostel facility to the minorities, SCs, STs and women graduate students.
This year, a total of 150 seats are available.
Also, 20% of candidates will be given a scholarship of Rs. 2,000/month on the mean-cum-merit basis.
However, the institute can reduce the number of intake if sufficiently meritorious students are not found during the process.
Candidates have to appear for three-hour written test
Step 1
The entrance examination will be of three hours, and will consist of two papers.
While Paper 1 will be of an hour, and comprise 60 general studies objective questions of 1-mark each, Paper 2 will be of two hours, which will ask candidates to write two essays in English/Hindi/Urdu.
The essays will be worth 30-marks each, and will test a candidate's skill to express.
Selected candidates will be then called for interview
Step 2
However, for every wrong answer in Paper 1, one-third of the marks will be deducted i.e. 0.25 marks.
The candidates who will clear the written test will have to appear for an interview/personality test, which will be of 30-marks.
That would be scheduled in August.
The candidates will have an option to give the interview in Hindi or Urdu as well, apart from English.
Curriculum includes classes, tests, evaluation, mock interviews and more
Syllabus
In case of a tie, one with more marks in essay will be preferred, followed by higher marks in interview, and if tie remains, the younger candidate will get admitted.
Students will be given classes for General Studies, CSAT, selected optional papers along with test series, answer's evaluation and essay writing practice.
Mock interviews for those who qualify the mains will also be conducted.
Entrance exam for coaching will be conducted in 12 centers
Centers
Alongside, the candidates can avail all the facilities provided by RCA, like 24x7 library facility, until they clear all the stages of Civil Services (UPSC) Exams: Prelims, Mains, and Interviews.
According to the notice released by RCA, the entrance exam for the coaching will be conducted at 12 centers which include, Delhi, Srinagar, Jammu, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai, Lucknow, Guwahati, Patna, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai.

Application
In order to apply for the coaching, follow the simple steps below:
1- Go to the official website of Jamia Millia Islamia, jmicoe.in
2- Open the application link under the 'Admission' section.
3- Register yourself under the 'Applicant Login'
As per the notice, the application can be submitted online only, and a fee of Rs. 650 (exclusive of bank charges) will be applicable.
Last year's AIR 3 was coached at RCA
Fact
According to reports, Junaid Ahmad, who held All India Rank 3 in the Civil Services Examination 2018, took coaching at RCA. Separately, a total of around 245 candidates, who were coached at RCA, were selected in other various central and provincial services.
