Komyokan Dojo at 146 Harrowby Road, Birkenhead has been open for 30 years this year.

This Dojo is a specialist martial arts centre for the teaching of Aikido, Iaido and weapons techniques and it is under the direction of Mr Terry Ezra, 7th Dan from World Headquarters in Japan, who has also been awarded the rank of Shihan.

Mr Ezra has now been practising Aikido for 55 years and he teaches in many other parts of the world including Russia, Holland, Spain, Colombia and Costa Rica.

To celebrate this Anniversary, a special course was held on 4th/5th May at the Wirral Tennis Centre for members of the Dojo and the Komyokan Aikido Association for which the Dojo is the headquarters.

Instructors for the course were Terry Ezra, Shihan, 7th Dan, Nick Waites, 6th Dan and Jeremy Garmson, Rod Martin and Stella Stevenson, 5th Dan.

On Monday, May 6, the black belt gradings were held at Komyokan Dojo and 4 people passed gradings - Britta Kleinsorge, 3rd Dan, Guillaume Chansin, 2nd Dan and Norman Marles and Thorsten Schoeppner both 1st Dan.

There are classes at the Dojo every day except Sunday and new starters are always welcome.

Classes in meditation and Kendo are also available and for those who feel ready, Spiritual Development classes.
