BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s largest health care facility is getting ready to open a new building with 128 single-bed rooms.

Patients are expected to begin moving into the Miller Building at the University of Vermont Medical Center on June 1.

The building is designed to expand the number of private rooms at the hospital from 30% to nearly 90%, but it does not increase the number of patients who can be cared for at the same time.

The new rooms are designed to serve specialty surgery, cardiology, oncology and orthopedic patients.

The nearly $200 million facility will also include enhanced information technology and larger family spaces within rooms.
