LEOMINSTER — What’s the story behind the story? Find out how authors combine personal experiences and events ripped from the headlines to create compelling mysteries as the Leominster Public Library hosts acclaimed mystery writers Bruce Coffin, William Martin and Susan Oleksiw at the Leominster Public Library’s annual “Sisters in Crime” gathering.

This year marks the 22nd year of the partnership between the library and the New England Chapter of Sisters In Crime, an international community of writers, readers, librarians and booksellers whose mission is to promote the ongoing advancement, recognition and professional development of women crime writers.

A panel discussion will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, in the library’s Community Room, 30 West St.

It will feature a lively give-and-take between Coffin, Martin and Oleksiw as they discuss their creative process, from finding that first idea, to conducting research and sticking to a daily writing schedule.

Copies of the authors’ books will be available for purchase and signing at the program. The event, sponsored by McCarty Consulting LLC, is free and no reservations are required. The library would especially like to recognize local mystery writer Ruth McCarty for her financial support as well as her dedication to hosting the “Sisters In Crime” events over the last 20 years.
