A host of off-contract NRL players are being shopped to Super League clubs.

Meanwhile, Jackson Hastings could be back playing in Australia in 2020, and Rangi Chase revives his career.

Reportedly being shopped are Daniel Alvaro, Aaron Gray, Kyle Turner, Jeremy Latimore, Kurt Capewell, Corey Jensen, Ray Stone, Max King and Sosaia Feki.

All players are off contract with their clubs at the end of the season.

It’s yet to be seen which players will make the move overseas, but Jensen has already been linked with a move to Wigan.

HASTINGS TO RETURN?

The Daily Telegraph reported on Monday that former Roosters and Sea Eagles utility Jackson Hastings will be back in the NRL next year.

According to the report, Hastings will be joining an “out-of-town” club.

Hastings has been in fine form in Super League with Salford, which has sparked plenty of speculation about his playing future.

Just two weeks ago he was linked with a move to Wigan, but he dismissed the reports on Twitter.

HISTORY MADE IN BARCA

The Super League record for the most people at a regular season game was broken over the weekend when 31,555 turned up to watch Catalans beat Wigan 33-16 at the Nou Camp.

The previous record was 25,004 at Wigan v St Helens in 2005.

It was the first ever rugby league game to be played at FC Barcelona’s home ground, and it was a couple of former NRL players who starred.

David Mead bagged a double, while Sam Kasiano and Samisoni Langi also crossed.

Kasiano hailed the venue after the historic game.

“It was unreal to play there, it’s mad to think the greats like [Lionel] Messi and [Luis] Suarez play here,” he said.

“This is the best stadium I’ve played in. It’s unbelievable. I’ve played at ANZ, Suncorp is amazing, Wembley and Old Trafford but this one is the best.

“There were 30,000-plus in the Nou Camp and you could hear them too, so it was great.”

CHASE TO REVIVE CAREER

Former NRL star and England international Rangi Chase has signed a short-term deal with Doncaster until the end of the 2019 season.

Chase will be available to play for the club once his two-year drugs ban for cocaine use ends on July 14.

The 33-year-old has begun training with the Dons and is excited to be back in rugby league.

“I’m looking forward to getting involved and helping the lads at the business end,” the 2011 Man of Steel said.

“I’m excited as I’ve had a long time out, now that it’s not too far away I’m working hard to get my fitness levels as high as possible.

“The training will help me to get back up to speed, I want to try and get ready for July and get to know the boys as well.”

AKAUOLA’S HUGE HIT

Remember Sitaleki Akauola? Well, neither does Hull FC’s Scott Taylor after he was floored by the former Penrith and Wests Tigers forward.

Akauola came on the bench for Warrington in their clash with Hull and it’s safe to say he made his presence felt.

The 27-year-old was retrieving a kick and had a huge run up before smashing Taylor who was attempting to stop him.

For the record, Hull FC ended up breaking their hoodoo against the Wolves, winning 19-12.

The Wolves had won the last three clashes between the teams with an aggregate score of 173-34!

EX-NRL DUO SWAP CLUBS

Former Newcastle duo Junior Sa’u and Pauli Pauli have switched clubs on one-month loans.

Sa’u has joined Wakefield from Salford, while Pauli goes the other way.

Wakefield have lost Joe Arundel, Bill Tupou and Tom Johnstone to injury, so Sa’u gives the side much needed depth.

“I’m genuinely excited to get started,” Sa’u said.

“Wakefield are a club that are getting better and better each year and I believe they can go all the way.”

Trinity coach Chris Chester said Pauli joining Salford was a way for him to earn more minutes on the field.

“His game time has been limited recently with the form of Justin Horo, Danny Kirmond and James Batchelor, so it’s an opportunity for Pauli to get some more game time at Salford,” Chester said.

BIRD WEIGHS UP FUTURE

Former Australia and NSW star Greg Bird has admitted he’s contemplating retirement.

The 35-year-old lock joined Catalans in 2017 on a five-year deal, with the final two years a coaching contract.

“I’m not quite sure if I’ll go around again. I guess I’ll see what happens,” Bird said.

“The original plan was to play for three and then coach for two but to be honest I haven’t really thought about it.

“I’ll have to address it soon but I’ll take it a week at a time for now.”

His mind may have just been made up for him, after he suffered a suspected biceps tear in the Dragons’ 33-16 win over Wigan at Nou Camp.
