PATNA: A fire broke out in a computer room inside the annexe building of state legislature on Monday. The fire, however, was brought under control immediately.
Acting chairman of state legislative council Haroon Rashid said the fire started after an air-conditioner (AC) installed in room number 10, known as computer room, caught fire due to a short-circuit. “Thanks to quick action by fire brigade personnel, the fire was brought under control.
There was no casualty. Though the room was full of smoke, the situation was brought under control by the fire brigade personnel. Though it was an accident, we will work on all the parameters to avoid such incidents in future,” said Rashid.
Rashid said there were six computers, a fax machine and printers in the room, but none of them were damaged.
Ajit Pradhan, public relation officer at the legislative council, said the incident occurred around 9.30am. “A staff saw smoke billowing out of the AC. After he raised an alarm, we immediately informed fire brigade about the incident. Two fire tenders stationed at secretariat rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control,” Ranjan added.
