NEW DELHI: A differently-abled man was mowed down by a truck in east Delhi’s Geeta Colony on Sunday morning. The man was trying to cross the road when he came under the wheels of the speeding vehicle. Police said that efforts are on to identify the victim, but so far no document has been found from him.
A preliminary probe revealed that the victim was living in a governmentrun shelter home in Geeta Colony.
Every day, the men staying there used to go to a temple — across the road — to have tea. Witnesses told police that the victim was standing at the pavement to cross the road. However, there was heavy traffic. Before he could cross the road, a speeding truck hit him.
The truck driver failed to notice that the man has come under the wheels and continued to drag him before being stopped by passersby. He was arrested for dangerous driving and causing death due to negligence.
