Overnight storms brought heavy rain, causing flooding across the state. Several highways are closed due to flooding, including I-40 in Canadian County. Eastbound and westbound I-40 is closed at US-81 at El Reno in Canadian County due to flooding at Six-Mile Creek, according to officials. Eastbound I-40 traffic is detouring at Radio Rd. (mm 123) to SH-66 and westbound I-40 traffic is detouring at US-81 to SH-66. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and locate an alternate route.Check live trafficAccording to El Reno city officials, the community is experiencing heavy flooding in many areas. Water will continue to rise for the next six to eight hours. Emergency crews said they are responding to multiple water rescues in the El Reno area. "Public Safety Personnel are working diligently to assist the citizens affected by high water. El Reno Schools have canceled classes for today. I-40 is closed both east and west bound at this time. ODOT officials are working on diverting traffic but at this time traffic is at a stand-still," officials said in a news release. Grand and the Red Cross is responding to assist.
