Loot in the Name of Charity

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) It is saddening to see people wandering on roads, entering mosques, homes, offices and business establishment even in educational institutions along-with receipt books and thick files asking people to give charity in the name of orphans and destitute. I wonder how they are being allowed to run this business without any authenticity and identity. Surely our orphans and destitute are being exploited against some bucks. The menace is spreading fast. Every Muslim irrespective of ideology need to introspect and ensure that this type of menace is stopped.

In fact we have some registered trusts being run in the Valley with best background and surprisingly we still do not know the names of such angels who support such causes for the sake of Allah and how generous they are in giving relief, charity to the orphans and destitute and they do not do it just during Ramazan for them It is a continuous process throughout the year and orphans and destitute are always being taken care of. I will quote an example of "YATEEM TRUST near RTO office Chattabal where 100's of orphans are being given shelter besides food, clothing uniforms and modern education. We have one more prominent "Help Poor Voluntary Organization" (HVO) located in Baranpather just near Hazuri-Bagh that deals with the medicines on no loss no gain basis and 1000,s of people and needy can be seen in queues waiting to receive medicines on affordable rates. Even people with meagre income or financially poor are being given free medicines in crores but not before verifying about their sources of income and other credentials. So people in general must introspect before making payments to the people who visit mosques, business establishment, offices and educational institution every day even some hire vans fitted with loud speakers for receiving charity from the people.

I am fully aware about the importance of charity as a Muslim but at the same time we must keep in mind that the money we pay is not being misused and by exploiting poor and orphans. The menace is spreading like an epidemic in our valley and If we go by the actual figures collected no orphan / needy will remain poor If the charity is distributed judiciously.

We must also look at the IMAMS of mosques who are doing a commendable job by taking path of Allah and spending their life in mosques to make people aware about the teachings of Islam and what Islam actually teaches a Muslim. I wonder our IMAMAS of mosques are being paid miserably low monthly salary with which it is hard for them to manage their families.
