Anil Kapoor and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur teased fans with the possibility of a sequel to Mr India, when they tweeted about a "new and super exciting" collaboration. However, the director confirmed to an entertainment website that Mr India 2 will not be made, now that Sridevi is no more.

"There will never be another Mr India. Sridevi is gone. It is impossible to imagine Mr India without Sridevi. Even if Anil Kapoor was agreeable, Boney Kapoor who is the producer of Mr India would never dream of doing a sequel without his late wife," a source close to Boney and Anil revealed.

Shekhar clarified that he has no plans of directing another Mr India film. "I don't know what is happening with that project or what Boney Kapoor's plans are. I was never going to direct the sequel. Now with Sridevi no more, the question doesn't arise," he said.

Last week, Shekhar shared a picture with Anil on Twitter and wrote, "Discusssing the look for the next Mr India 2, or another movie together? You tell them, Anil Kapoor."

The actor expressed his feeling of "déj vu". "We're hoping to create the same magic we did before with Mr. India...The cap adjustment was lucky then, and it might do the trick this time as well!" he replied.

Rumours were rife that Anil and Shekhar were planning to announce Mr India 2, but insiders said that there was no truth to them. "Anil and Shekhar have been planning a film together for the longest time. They are now looking at doing a web series together," a source said.
