(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka : Asia holds nine of the world's top 20 busiest airports by total passenger numbers (including both domestic and international flights), with Beijing Capital International Airport in second place, according to the latest report by Airports Council International (ACI) highlighting preliminary 2018 figures.
Asia's mega hubs are capable of handling hundreds of millions of passengers. Their new facilities and amenities leave the dated airports of much of the rest of the world far behind - places where fliers are treated to some of the most incredible pieces of architecture and experience features rarely associated with air travel.
In ACI's preliminary world airport traffic rankings for 2018, Beijing Capital International Airport grabbed the second place with a total number of 100,983,290 passengers.
Tokyo Haneda Airport bagged the fifth spot with 87,131,973 passengers. Hong Kong International Airport came at the eighth position with 74,517,402 passengers
Shanghai Pudong Interna-tional Airport with 74,006,331 passengers came ninth.
Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport is ranked 12th by ACI with 69,900,938 passengers. Right after, on the 13th place, was Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport with 69,769,497 passengers.
The remaining three Asian airports that have secured places in the top 20 are Incheon International Airport, Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Changi Airport Singapore.
Incheon stood on the 16th position with 68,350,784 passengers tailed by Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta and Changi which were on the 18th and 19th places respectively.
Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport witnessed a total number of 66,908,159 passengers whereas Changi Airport Singapore dealt with 65,628,000 passengers in 2018.
