New York Red Bulls vs Vancouver Whitecaps Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

New York Red Bulls will be hoping to continue their impressive return to form when they host Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night.

After taking just five points from their first seven games, Chris Armas’ men have won four of their last five fixtures and victory here would move them up to fourth in the Eastern Conference.

Vancouver, meanwhile, have won three and drawn two of their last seven MLS games but are 5/1 (6.0) to claim their third win in five visits to Harrison.

The draw, which occurred when these sides met in the Champions League in February 2017, is available at 29/10 (3.90).

Team News

Red Bulls are set to be without record goalscorer Bradley Wright-Phillips for the sixth straight match, while Aaron Long, Vincent Bezecourt and Andreas Ivan are all doubtful. Tim Parker is suspended being sent off against Atlanta United.

The Whitecaps could have as many as eight players missing, with Michael Baldisimo, Jasser Khmiri, David Norman Jr., Yordy Reyna, Lass Bangoura, Doneil Henry, Felipe and Jon Erice all set to miss out.

Preview

As if having a host of players out injured was not bad enough for Vancouver, their flight to New York on Tuesday night was cancelled and they instead arrived in at around 2:30am on Wednesday.

The visitors, then, are unlikely to be as well-rested as they would perhaps like and a sluggish start could be on the cards for Marc Dos Santos’ Canadian outfit.

Red Bulls have scored first in each of their last four matches at home, winning three of those, whilst the Whitecaps have conceded the opening goal in four of their six away matches this term.

Tips and Predictions

The home team will be buoyed with their 1-0 win over Atlanta at the weekend considering they played with 10 men for over an hour, and could well take that good feeling into Wednesday night.

Indeed, Red Bulls will be determined to make another good start in front of their own fans and the 6/5 (2.20) price on Armas’ men to lead at both half-time and full-time looks a solid way to get on board with the hosts.
