Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s restaurant business in the UK may have gone into administration but operations of his branded restaurants in India will not be impacted.

International Market Management (IMM), which has the pan-India franchise rights for Jamie Oliver Restaurants, said expansion plans for the restaurant brands -- Jamie’s Pizzeria and Jamie’s Italian -- remain unaffected.

A spokesperson for Jamie Oliver Group told BusinessLine that the restaurants in India would continue to trade as normal.

“The board of Jamie’s Italian Ltd has appointed Will Wright and Mark Orton of KPMG to put its UK-based restaurant business into administration. Jamie Oliver Holdings, which operates Jamie Oliver Ltd and Jamie Oliver Licensing Ltd, as well as the international restaurant franchise business, Jamie’s Italian International Ltd, will continue to trade as normal,” the spokesperson said in an e-mail.

Currently, IMM’s Dolomite Restaurants runs seven outlets under casual dining restaurant brands -- Jamie’s Pizzeria and Jamie’s Italian -- in the Delhi-NCR region and Mumbai, and Jasper Reid, founder and CEO, IMM, said India is key international territory for the company outside the UK and that the Indian operations would not be affected.

Replying to a BusinessLine mail query, Reid said, “We plan for 50 restaurants…in the next few years.” He said these restaurants would be a mix of brands -- Jamie’s Pizzeria and Jamie’s Italian.

Last year, venture capital fund Hunch Ventures picked up 50 per cent stake in IMM-owned companies -- Sierra Nevada Restaurants and Dolomite Restaurants, that operates burger chain Wendy’s and Jamie’s branded restaurants in India.
