Fabian Delph reported for England's training session on Wednesday as Gareth Southgate's men got their preparations for Nations League semi-final against Holland underway.

As Sportsmail revealed this week, the midfielder had taken the decision to cut short Manchester City's domestic treble celebrations to hook up with the England squad five days early.

Delph along with Manchester City team-mates, Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker and John Stones, were not due to attend until next Monday due to their participation in the FA Cup final against Watford.

But Delph has now joined up with the initial wave of players - 12 in total - at St George's Park in a bid to impress manager Southgate ahead of the Holland clash on June 6.

The England squad first worked on the technical side of things with drills involving shooting, passing and crossing before hitting the gym to focus on their fitness and strength.

Delph took part in the light training session with the rest of the England squad before joining them in the gym.

The other players to participate in Wednesday's mixed training session were Marcus Rashford, Jordan Pickford, Jesse Lingard, Callum Wilson, Nathan Redmond, Ben Chilwell, Declan Rice, Harry Maguire, Michael Keane, James Ward-Prowse, Tom Heaton and Jack Butland.

Southgate will keep a close eye on these early sessions with the England boss set to trim his squad down from 27 to 23 members before flying out to Portugal next week as England go in search of their first major trophy since 1966.

Delph will be joined by his City team-mates and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho next week, while players n the Europa League and Champions League finals will report on June 3.

England face Holland in their semi-final in Guimaraes on June 6 before then playing either Portugal or Switzerland in the final or third-place play-off on June 9.
