Patna Junction getting facelift

PATNA: The Patna Junction, which falls under the Danapur division of the East Central Railway (ECR), is getting a facelift. As part of the station upgradation plan of the Railway Board, new tiles are being fixed and walls of the building — both on Mahavir Temple and Karbigahiya ends — painted.
According to Danapur divisional railway manager (DRM) Ranajn Prakash Thakur, the railways is giving a facelift to the Patna Junction building at a cost of Rs 2 crore.“LED lights, which change their colours every 10 minutes are also being installed on the station premises. A computerized system will display pictures of famous monuments as well as eminent personalities of Bihar on the station walls in the evening,” the DRM said, adding the facelift would be completed soon.
The railways will also make arrangements for a food court facility on different platforms of the Patna Junction to cater to the needs of passengers. It has already installed a 100 feet high tricolour in the circulating area of the main entrance of the station.
Coach upgradation: The railways has given a new look to the coaches of the Dhanbad-Patna Ganga Damodar Express (13329/13330) by fitting bio-toilets and LED lights. New curtains have also been used in the AC coaches of the train.
Special train for examinees: The Railways has decided to run an examinee special train (03261/03262) between Patna and Howrah to help students appear for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination.
“The train will leave the Patna Junction at 11.35pm on Friday and reach Howrah the next day at 12.15pm. On its return journey, it will leave Howrah at 10.50pm on Sunday and reach Patna the following day at 10am,” ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar said.
