NEW DELHI: Delhi University has invited 445 of its alumni in India and abroad and another 330 eminent academics from international universities in different countries such as the US, Japan, the UK, Egypt and Australia to share their views on its proposed revised curriculum for undergraduate programmes.
Professionals from various industries have also been asked to share their opinion while the members of DU’s academic and executive councils have been invited individually to give their feedback and suggestions.
DU has already received 265 responses on the public feedback form.
The university has revised the curriculum to incorporate the Learning Outcome-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF), as per the directive of University Grants Commission (UGC), from this academic session. In the proposal, each course under a programme outlines its outcomes, learning objectives and detailed teaching-learning-assessment plan.
The university has revised the curriculum of all 67 programmes with more than 3,400 courses. The courses are available on each department’s website with an email ID for sending feedback and suggestions.
“The revised courses were uploaded on the DU website on May 16, and approximately 265 responses have already been received on the public feedback form,” said C S Dubey, chairperson, Undergraduate Curriculum Revision Committee (UGCRC).
The window for submitting feedback will remain open till May 31. “The committee expects that by then close to 10,000 responses will come. The compiled report, based on the feedback given by stakeholders and experts, shall be sent to the respective department for further action,” Dubey added. The suggestions will be forwarded to the head of the department concerned and working group members.
The university will work on the third draft based on the views and suggestions received from all stakeholders. The revised curriculum is likely to be presented before DU’s standing committee in the first week of June.
