BENGALURU: Four people have been arrested on charges of killing a 37-year-old kebab seller in Rajagopalnagar earlier this month, police said on Wednesday.
Probe revealed that the main accused, Kishore, who is on the run, plotted the murder after he learned that the victim, Umesh, had encouraged a police complaint against him over a sex tape.
Kishore and Umesh had been friends for a long time. But Kishore had an affair with Umesh’s wife and allegedly videotaped their private moments.
He pressured her to leave Umesh, but she refused to end the marriage. She started avoiding Kishore, who then posted an explicit clip on Facebook.
She later confided in Umesh, who persuaded her to file a police complaint. Kishore was arrested for posting the video in January. However, after a court granted him bail, he conspired with four people to take revenge, promising them a handsome sum, police said.
At 10pm on May 12, the group hacked Umesh to death at his kebab shop. Kishore’s arrested accomplices were identified as Raveesh, 44, and Jitendra, 30, from Hassan district; Sumanth Raj, 29, from Chikkamagaluru; and Pradeep Kumar, 40, from Chitradurga. They worked at a private firm in Kengeri.
