MUMBAI: Former minister, NCP MLA from Beed district Jaydutta Kshirsagar is all set to join Shiv Sena on Wednesday evening in the presence of party president Uddhav Thackeray at Shiv Sena Bhavan, party headquarter in Mumbai.
The move is seen as a major setback for NCP in Beed district ahead of the state assembly polls, scheduled in September 2019.
Kshirsagar told TOI that he tendered his resignation as legislator post on Wednesday morning before joining the Sena.
“I have submitted my resignation as a legislator to the speaker of the state assembly in presence of senior Sena minister Subhash Desai and Sena functionary Milind Narvekar. I'll be joining Sena in the evening,” Kshirsagar said.
“There are many reasons to quit the party and I do not want to blame anyone. But the party should have had treat seniors with respect,” said Kshirsagar. During the Lok Sabha polls, he campaigned for the BJP-Sena candidate Pritam Munde in Beed.
NCP leader had met Thackeray on April 6 at Matoshree residence to greet him on the occasion of the Marathi new year Gudhi Padwa.
