Gorakhpur Constituency Election Result: Ravi Kishan defeats SP's Ram Bhuwal Nishad

GORAKHPUR: Popular Bhojpuri actor and BJP candidate Ravi Kishan defeated Samajwadi Party's Ram Bhuwal Nishad and Madhusudan Tripathi of Congress in Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituency.
Overall, BJP won 303 seats while the Samajwadi Party has been declared victorious on 5 seats.

Gorakhpur for long has been a BJP stronghold until a united opposition delivered a stunning defeat in the assembly by-election held in 2017.UP chief minister and BJP leader Yogi Adityanath has won the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha constituency seat five times in a row in 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014. The seat was also represented by his guru Mahant Avaidyanath for three terms: 1989, 1991 and 1996.
In 2018 by-poll, SP's Praveen Kumar Nishad won the seat by a margin of 21,881 votes.
Overall, BJP won 303 seats while the Samajwadi Party has been declared victorious on 5 seats.
