In Tripura, which the Left lost to BJP two years ago, the Left seems to be struggling in both the Lok Sabha seats in the State.
As the counting of votes progress steadily, the Left Parties appear to be facing an unprecedented challenge, if not crisis. In the last Lok Sabha too, the Left has barely manged a double digit figure, and repeating that task now looks like a serious challenge going by the trends available now.

In Kerala, the only land of hope for Left after the it lost control of West Bengal, the Congress-led UDF is leading ahead the CPM-led LDF is 19 of the total 20 seats as per the latest trends. The elections on Kerala this time had assumed special significance as many saw it also as a popular referendum on the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government’s handling of the Sabarimala temple row. As of the now, the people of the State have turned against that stand and seem to be backing the state Congress opposing the entry of women into the temple by saying traditions of religious rituals should be maintained.

Even though the BJP-led a vociferous agitation in the State opposing the Supreme Court order allowing entry of young women’s entry into the Sabarimala and turned it into its major electoral plank, the trends so far show, the saffron party is unable to take lead in any of the 20 seats in the State.

The Left crisis appears to be getting only intensified in West Bengal as the trend now shows that the CPM is trailing both in Raiganj and Murshidabad, the only two seats the party had won in 2014.

In Tripura, which the Left lost to BJP two years ago, the Left seems to be struggling in both the Lok Sabha seats in the State.

It now remains to be seen whether the CPM and CPI, which had contested two seats each in Tamil Nadu in the company of DMK and Congress, will able to piggy back on the DMK surge in any of those two seats.
