Mandya: Sumalatha Ambareesh who is an independent candidate in
Mandya Lok Sabha constituency wins by defeating
Nikhil Kumaraswamy of JD (S).
After the latest round of counting, Nikhil Kumaraswamy has received 5,77,784 votes while his rival Sumalatha Ambareesh has got 7,03,660 votes.
Overall, the BJP won in 302 seats, while the Congress won in 52 constituencies, as per trends at 12:41 PM.
Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency Mandya is one of the constituencies in 28-seat Karnataka. At present, Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency is held by LR Shivarame Gowda of JD(S) who beat DR Siddaramaiah of BJP after C S Puttaraju, JD (S) candidate resigned in 2018. Puttaraju won Lok Sabha elections beating Ramya of Congress by receiving a huge number of the votes in 2014.
Voting in Mandya constituency was held on April 18 during the 2nd phase of the Elections 2019. The seat has seen an interesting battle between the actor-turned-politician Nikhil Gowda of JD(S) and Sumalatha Ambareesh wife of Kannada superstar Ambareesh.
