Yesterday, police found partially decomposed bodies of a married couple, Shashi Tyagi (56) and his wife Renu Tyagi (52), in a flat in sector 99 of Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, Shashi killed his wife before committing suicide. However, nothing can be said for sure till the autopsy reports arrive.

Reportedly, the couple was living in the flat since 2016.

Here's more.

Both bodies found in separate rooms, door locked from inside
Crime Scene

The matter came to light after their neighbours in Supreme Tower apartments complained of a foul smell emanating from their flat.

A police official said, "When police were alerted, they reached the house, and had to break open the door, which was bolted from inside."

While Shashi's body was found hanging from ceiling fan, Renu's body was found on a bed in another room.

'Exact cause of deaths could only be ascertained after post-mortem'
Case

Further, the official said, "The bodies had started decomposing and appeared that the death took place four-five days ago."

Although the police has suspected it to be a suicide case, no suicide note was found from the crime scene.

"The exact cause of deaths could only be ascertained after post-mortem and other details are gathered," the official pointed out.

Couple going through financial crisis, was asked to vacate flat
Reason

As per reports, Shashi, who was a property dealer, hailed from Delhi, and was "facing financial troubles," said cops.

The flat's owner, Rahul Dev Tyagi, allowed them to stay for free as he had close ties with them.

While talking to TOI, SHO Prashant Kapil informed that Rahul also wanted them to vacate the flat since December 2018 after he got a new tenant.

Nothing suspicious found when forensic team visited flat
Fact

Meanwhile, a forensic team, which visited the flat, didn't find anything suspicious. The initial probe into the matter suggests that the couple, who was childless, had outstanding loans worth lakhs and they kept their door closed apparently to avoid meeting people. Further investigation is underway.
