Karimnagar LS seat, once represented by KCR, falls to BJP
Hyderabad: TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao usually starts his poll campaign from Karimnagar. In the 2018 Assembly and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, KCR began his campaign from Karimnagar, addressing public meeting there.
As a leader of the separate Telangana movement, KCR chose the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat to demonstrate there was overwhelming support for the statehood cause.
He won three times from there, but on Thursday the seat slipped out of the hands of TRS. TRS’ B Vinod Kumar, who sought a re-election, lost to BJP candidate Bandi Sanjay.
At the height of the struggle for a separate state, KCR contested as an MP for the first time in the 2004 election and won. He defeated Ch Vidyasagar Rao of BJP.
