Maharashtra: 1.82 lakh — the average winning margin in state

The highest victory margin of 4.65 lakh votes belonged to BJP’s Gopal Shetty, the candidate from Mumbai North. He won in 2014 by a margin of 4.46 lakh votes. The BJP has a victory margin of over four lakh votes in two constituencies and over three lakh in three. Its lowest victory margin is 40,010 in Nanded where Prataprao Chikhalikar defeated Ashok Chavan.

The Shiv Sena, too, has managed to post heavy victories with an average winning margin of 1.83 lakh in the 18 seats it won. In the last election, the margin was 1.69 lakh votes.

Its biggest was 4.10 lakh votes in Thane where Rajan Vichare won. Vichare had won by the highest margin of 2.81 lakh in 2014, too.

The lowest victory margin of the Sena was 42,199 votes in Parbhani where Sena’s Sanjay Jadhav won against NCP’s Rajesh Vitekar.

The NCP has seen its average winning margin sliding from 1.23 lakh votes to 92,644 in the four seats that it won. The highest margin was by NCP’s Supriya Sule, who won by 1.55 lakh votes. The lowest margin was 31,438 by Sunil Tatkare in Raigad. The victory margin for the Congress was 51,181 in Chandrapur as against average of 41,453 for the two seats it won in 2014. The lowest victory margins were of Independent candidate Navneet Rana from Amravati who won by 36,951 votes and AIMIM’s Imtiyaz Jaleel who won by 4,492 votes.
