Hyderabad: ‘Will now go National’ AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi

Hyderabad: Winning for the fourth consecutive time from Hyderabad’s Lok Sabha Constituency, the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen party president Asaduddin Owaisi said the party would now go national to preserve the culture of secular India and prevent BJP from taking further control over the polity of the country.

People’s verdict should be respected, however, he says he had expected a different outcome in this Lok Sabha election, TT reports.

BJP has successfully instilled fear among Muslim minorities in the country besides creating a narrative of nationalism.

Not only there is a threat to minorities security but the Hyderabad’s MP warns that the saffron party also pose a serious threat to the participatory democracy which was promised by the founding fathers of the country as the party is leading the nation towards a majoritarian system.

Now worried over marginalized communities that are being ignored besides Muslim minority living under threat, the Hyderabad MP said that his party will now go full ahead.

“We will now go full ahead. The other side is blatant about majoritarian democracy. We will ensure minimum Muslim political participation. If the diversity of the country and marginalised communities are being ignored, it is not good for the country,” replied Owaisi answering a question on AIMIM’s contesting elections in Bihar and Maharashtra.

Responding to another question on EVM rigging, Owaisi said: “It is not the EVMs that were rigged. It is the Hindu mind that was rigged by the BJP.”
“I fear further alienation of the Muslim community after this BJP victory as it contested the poll in an atmosphere of hatred it created. The limit is that a terror accused is now an MP,” he added.

Speaking on BJP’s attempt to infiltrate the only Muslim minority state in the south, Owaisi said that the TRS was one of the regional parties that has stopped BJPs march.

“Wherever the regional parties are strong, the BJP did not succeed as it did in States without such parties. The BJP’s success is a result of vote bank politics,” he said.

Answering a question on what his comments would be on how TRS fared in the Lok Sabha elections, Owaisi said this is something he will discuss with TRS leaders directly and not through the media.
