MUMBAI: In Raigad Lok Sabha constituency, NCP candidate Sunil Tatkare defeated Union minister for heavy industries Anant Gite of the Shiv Sena by a margin of over 31,438 votes.
Data released by the election branch gave Tatkare 4,86,968 votes against 4,55,530 votes secured by Gite.
While PWP had played spoilsport in the previous election by securing a vote share of 13.13%, this time the party joined forces with NCP-Congress alliance.

In 2014 Lok Sabha contest there also was an independent candidate by the name of Sunil Tatkare, and he bagged no less than 9,849 votes, far more than Gite's victory margin.
