Bengaluru: Carpenter falls off 10th floor in under-construction building, dies

Adithya Constructions is building an 11-floor building in Gunjur and the incident happened on May 22.

Bengaluru: A 24-year-old carpenter died after he fell off the 10th floor of an under-construction building in Varthur police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Rajat Burman, hailing from West Bengal. Rajat was working at the building being constructed by Adithya Constructions for the past eight months.

Rajat's brothers and relatives have accused Avinash, Vishan and Ramu of Adithya Constructions, and contractor Alok of negligence and filed a police complaint.

Adithya Constructions is building an 11-floor building in Gunjur and the incident happened on May 22. After finishing lunch, Rajat decided to climb to the 11th floor, but he lost balance and fell off the 10th floor. He was rushed to a hospital by other workers, but he succumbed to injuries.

In their police complaint, Rajat’s bothers and relatives stated that there was no fencing for the stairs and this was posing as a danger to the workers.

A case has been registered against the four accused.
