PUNE: The Hadapsar police have booked an unidentified man for flashing a woman at a housing complex on the Magarpatta Road on Thursday.
The incident occurred when the woman, a yoga teacher, was out for a morning walk with her mother. The woman, who was also walking her pet dog, was a few paces behind her mother. The suspect, who was standing beside his motorcycle under a tree, spotted the younger woman and started calling out to the dog.
Senior inspector Sunil Tambe, the in-charge of the Hadapsar police station, said, “The woman turned to look at the man as he was trying to call her dog.
However, the moment she looked at him, the suspect flashed her. He fled when the woman raised an alarm.”
The 33-year-old-woman has lodged an FIR against the unidentified man under section 354 (a) (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code with the Hadapsar police.
Sub-inspector Varsha Bambe, who is the investigating officer, said, “The incident happened between 7.30am and 8am. We have checked the CCTV cameras and have got the registration number of the man’s motorcycle. However, the series number is not known. We have contacted the Regional Transport Office. Prima facie, we suspect the man works at a housing society nearby. We are working on certain clues and hope to arrest the suspect soon.”
